About The Music
We're lucky to be at the crossroads of many cultures.
I call the music I've written for the band world view music.
It's inspired by music that's immigrated here.
My job as a composer is to create a place for the
musicians and audience to go, a setting filled with
the color, texture and feeling I want portrayed
in the music. But it’s really only a map to that place.
It takes the musicians to breathe life into it
every step of the way.
As part of the setting, I write what I think of as the
cliff into nearly every piece of my music. It’s the
opportunity to solo, to step off the cliff and improvise.
The musicians I work with soar with this opportunity.
It’s never the same and it’s part of what keeps
the music alive and fresh each time we perform.
